chapter 17

Gosh! This chapter was somewhat complex to me because everyone was speaking metaphorically. The reason why I say it's complex was because I kept on forgetting who was talking. But I guess it's all thanks to a girl who likes Dorian. Her name is Gladys and she's Harry's cousin. She sounds like she likes to hear the both argue metaphorically. Example: (pg 208-209, paragraphs 13-20)

"Even when one has been wounded by it, Harry?" asked the duchess after a pause.

"Especially when one has been wounded by it," answered Lord Henry.

The duchess turned and looked at Dorian Gray with a curious expression in her eyes. "What do you say to that, Mr. Gray?" she inquired.

Dorian hesitated for a moment. Then he threw his head back and laughed. "I always agree with Harry, Duchess."

"Even when he is wrong?"

"Harry is never wrong, Duchess."

"And does his philosophy make you happy?"

She starts arguments because it's her way of flirting. But I agree with Lord Henry when he says " You are flirting disgracefully with him".(line 19,pg209) I think that has to be the 2nd thing he said that I agree.
