THE FIRST CHPTR OF OSCAR WILDE'S BOOK...

HELLO,HI ,WELCOME...^w^

This is the first blog of the first chapter of the book..."THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY"...if you are wondering who the heck is this guy. He is the author of this book,Oscar Wilde. When you look at this picture of the author, you probably think of him as nothing, but trust me...HE'S SOMETHING!

The first chapter of the book is okay when you read it to yourself, but when some guy who has a monotone voice reads it...YOU JUST WANNA DIE...trust me...JUST TRUST ME.

The characters in book so far are Lord Henry(aka harry),Basil, some lady,(woopsie, forgot her name),and the main character himself,DORIAN GRAY. Wilde describes all of his characters good...but a bit too good. Why do i say this?BECAUSE WHEN THIS AUTHOR DESCRIBES MEN...I START TO THINK OF HIM AS GAY! Even though they say he is...but who know...the world is unknown.

The person who paints the picture is called BASIL HALLWARD. He is the man who paints the very interesting Dorian Gray. Lord Henry asks Basil why he does not want to show the world his painting. In the book, pg 20, paragraph 5, he says "...I have too much of myself into it." I don't understand why Wilde wrote that, but on the next page(21), Basil explains that Dorian is ugly, then it makes me wonder why he did that.

Lord Henry is the guy who sparks an "interest" in Dorian. Through out the first chapter,he asks Basil questions on this Dorian character, I start to feel the sense that Lord Henry is gay. For ex: in page 28, he says "Basil, this extraordinary!I must see Dorian Gray." See what i mean...but he is a very complex character to me because he's sort of like Oscar Wilde. HE CHANGES EVERYTHING HE SAYS!

The tone of the first chapter is descriptive. Also, through out the 1st chapter, he uses way too much descriptions of flowers. For ex: on pg 19
,the first sentence,"The studio was filled with the rich odour of roses, and when the light summer wind stirred amidst the trees of the garden, there came through the open door the heavy scent of the lilac, or the more delicate perfume of the pink-flowering thorn."...The tone is also very dramatic too, once I read this line and the whole 1st chapter.
